Q. Who can send remittances?
A. All European residents can apply for remittances. Applicants are required to provide acceptable proof of identity and current residence. They are also required to disclose the source of funds being remitted as well as Beneficiary's name, bank account number, bank branch (IFSC code), bank name and purpose of remittance.
Q. What are different methods of sending money to India?
A. You can send money to India by (i) Instant Rupee Remittance (corebanking branches of SBI and SBI Associate Branks) and (ii) Drafts.
Q. Can I send money to any bank or should it be to State Bank of India only?
A. You may send money to any one with account with any bank in India. We would be issuing a draft or a SWIFT transfer on SBI branch nearest to the beneficiary's bank which can collect funds from SBI branch.
Q. How many days would it take to transfer money to India?
A. Same day in case of Instant Rupee Remittance.
Q. How fast is remittance of funds by Drafts?
A. Depends on how you are sending the drafts to the beneficiary viz: by hand through some one going to India / through regd mail /through ordinary mail/through courier.
Q. How can I make payment for making rupee remittances?
A. By transferring funds from your local account to us by quoting our IBAN no. BE 07 668 100 000 266 and swift code which is SBINBE2X. After transfer of funds please mail you instructions alongwith required supporting documents to email ID email@example.com.
Q. Is it necessary to come to the Bank for sending a remittance?
A. No. it is not necessary. You may mail us your instructions after you made a transfer to us alongwith ID and address proof, purpose of remittance and if amount exceeds € 5000 declaration about the source of funds.
Q. Do I need to have an account for sending remittances?
A. It is not necessary to maintain an account with us.
Please note that with effect from 01/01/2017 the instant Rupee remittances services will be available only for the customers of SBI Antwerp branch. We request all others not to send money to us through other banks henceforth.
